Masterworks 2: Inspirations
A graceful program inspired by the beautiful surroundings of Longwood Gardens. Faure’s elegant incidental music was originally written for the theater. Luigi's cello concerto is from the classical period. Caroline Shaw is a contemporary female American composer. Her Entr’acte was inspired by a string quartet of Haydn. Respighi took his inspiration from three Botticelli pictures and thus his musical language has a renaissance feel.
