2017 Voice Competition

Saturday, December 9, 2017 – 12pm
Kendal at Longwood Auditorium, Kennett Square, PA

The Kennett Symphony will hold its 2017 Voice Competition on Saturday, December 9. The competition is limited to twenty gifted young singers between the ages of 18-26.

The competition is open to the public and free of charge. Three scholarship prizes will be awarded – first prize is $1,000 and a solo performance with the Kennett Symphony, second prize is $300, and third prize is $100.

Competition Details:
Age: 18-26 as of January 1, 2017
Audition piece: Three operatic, oratorio, or concert arias/songs for voice and orchestra in the original language by three different composers, at least one in English, and all from memory. Include one 18th century, one 19th century, and one 20th – 21st century piece.
Music: Performer must provide 3 copies of audition music. This music should not be mailed in with the application. Please bring it with you to the competition.
Accompanist: Performer must provide accompanist
Application Fee: $50 (non-refundable) check made payable to “KSCC”
Scholarships: First Prize: $1,000 & a solo performance with the Kennett Symphony; Second Prize: $300; Third Prize: $100

Auditorium time restraints limit the number of performers to 20. Postmark dates on the application will be used to prioritize the applications – those coming after all available timeslots are filled will be added to a standby list on a first come-first serve basis.
